Garden Maintenance
Is your garden looking a little tired? Don't have the time or confidence to tackle trimming and pruning? I am now offering a soft gardening service, where for $50/hour I will come and get your existing garden looking great! This service includes weeding, shrub pruning and trimming of low/medium hedges, as well as topiary pruning. I'm happy to do one-offs, or come and visit regularly to help you keep on top of things. This option is ideal for rental and commercial properties, or for those of you who are just not gardeners but want people to think you are...
Guinness Crescent, Avonhead
This couple had a shrub and perennial garden that had got well and truly away on them! They overlook a reserve, and the site includes terraced gardens to allow for quite a steep change in level... They came out to visit at Southern Woods one day in 2023, and let it slip that apparently, the pruning of the perennials (and anything that got in the way...) had previously been done with a chainsaw! At that point, they were sent to me for help... After doing the initial tidy of the site and getting it under control, I now maintain the garden fully, for which they are eternally grateful and show it in the odd gin after gardening on a hot summers day...
The Lost Garden...

The bank... A bit of a jungle at this stage, but lots of potential!
Just a couple of days weeding, thinning and pruning, and hey presto, we have the remains of what was once a lovely garden, soon to be again!
But wait, there's more...

It's amazing what you uncover in an over-grown garden... In this case, not only was it several sculptures, pots and bricks...

...but after some serious weeding, I also uncovered some (slightly unsafe) steps leading down to the garden beyond... This has laid the base plan for some new ones to go in, providing much-needed access from the main entertainment area to the bottom of the garden.
The hedge that they were too nervous to trim...

This griselinia hedge just needed taming a bit. The clients (or one of them, no names mind you) was EXTREMELY nervous about me clipping it, for fear of losing any height...

But here we are two years later, with a much denser, neater and healthier hedge, which is now looking as it should. The pots are lined up, ready for re-locating amongst the gardens, and the clients are so inspired, they even fixed the trellis fencing and are planning a patio, happy days!
